The Formula 1 World Championship in Powerboats returns to Portimão between 21 and 23 April. 18 riders, from nine teams and from 11 countries, will slide in the waters of the Rio Arade estuary, in what will be the first race of the 2017 World Cup season. F4 and F1.

The action takes place «on a very technical circuit of almost two kilometers», implemented between the road bridge and the Convento de São Francisco, according to the Portimão City Council.

the area of paddock, with an area of ​​13 square metres, «is the largest of the entire world circuit and allows spectators to visit the pits and have contact with the best drivers and teams in the world of the sport».

The Power Boat World Championship returned to Portimão in 2016, after years of interregnum. This will be the 14th time that Portimão has hosted this international competition.

This competition is promoted by F1h20/UIM, with local organization of the Portimão Tourism Association and Portimão Municipality. Support comes from the Port Authority of Portimão, the Administration of the Ports of Sines and Algarve, EMARP and the Algarve Tourism Region , with the technical support of the Portuguese Federation of Motornautics and the Clube Naval de Portimão.
