Vale do Lobo is «the first smart resort in the world»

The possibility for anyone, as long as they are registered, to report an occurrence, such as a blown street lamp or a badly parked car, is one of the main innovations that the platform Infralobe Smart Management will bring those who live, work (or just pass by) through Vale do Lobo.

Introduced this Wednesday, March 1st, the online tool will make Vale do Lobo “the world's first smart resort”.

The logic behind the platform, which in addition to a website, also has a mobile application for all Smartphones, it's easy to understand. Anyone who goes on the street in Vale do Lobo, Quadradinhos, Dunas Douradas, Mimosas, Aldeia das Ferrarias, Vale do Garrão, Quinta Jacintina and Vilas Alvas, and sees something out of the ordinary, can, through the Infralobe Smart Management, take a photo and send it to the "Situation Room", thus communicating the occurrence.

At Infralobo's headquarters, in the “Situation Room”, two technicians will receive the information on giant screens, forwarding it to one of the municipal company employees, who will go to the field to check what is happening. The assessment is done later and the situation resolved. Whoever reported the occurrence will receive a e-mail automatic thank you and notify you when the situation is resolved.

This e-mail there is only one problem: it will only be sent in Portuguese, despite the fact that most people who live or spend holidays in the Vale do Lobo area are foreigners.

Another issue is that if something abnormal is reported after 17:30 pm, for example at night, the problem will only be resolved the following day, as there will not always be “picket” technicians accompanying the Infralobe Smart Management.

José Miguel, chairman of Infralobo's board of directors, told the Sul Informação that this platform “has combined technologies” that went “to drink to various places” where there are already, at sectorial level, some initiatives similar to this one.

Even because, he guaranteed, from lamps, garbage cans, water, waste and rain networks, «everything is registered and georeferenced». Thus, it will also be possible to know, for example, if the garbage is being collected or, even, if the green spaces have had their grass cut.

A Infralobe Smart Management, which has 2020% non-repayable funding from CRESC Algarve 80, equivalent to «almost one million euros», will also allow for the internal monitoring of the services of this municipal company, for example by managing the fleet of cars, to know, in real time, where each vehicle is.

Added to this is greater control in telemetry, with a system that allows remote management of the entire network of water meters, through the provision of reports and statistical analysis in real time.

Vítor Aleixo, mayor of Loulé, was present at the launch of this platform and even had the right to try the application, with a smartphone.

The Loulé mayor also said that with the Infralobe Smart Management, «the citizens of Vale do Lobo will become closer to the decision-makers».

Miguel Freitas, first secretary of AMAL – Algarve Intermunicipal Community, in his speech, referred to the fact that one of the purposes of technology should be «to allow a greater sharing of information among all».

Anyone who wants to register on the platform, which was developed by Visualforma and Focus, can do so here. There is also a video available about the Infralobe Smart Management, which can be seen here, by clicking on the banner application.
