Theater for various ages and tastes, music and cinema are some of the artistic expressions that will be on the stage of the Municipal Auditorium in Albufeira, throughout March. The concert hall in Albufeira suggests a program with many initiatives, which will be one of the highlights the 10th edition of the Albufeira International Theater Festival.
In the 2017 T Festival program, which will run from 23 to 27 March, «Russian culture is highlighted, in an evocation of the 1917 Revolution, as well as the Miracle of Fatima and the exile in the Algarve», according to the Chamber of Albufeira, which co-finances the initiative organized by the Contemporary Theater Company (CTC) in conjunction with the «365 Algarve» programme.
On the 23rd, a Thursday, the festival opens with a tribute to Algarvian actor Rui Cabrita, who recently passed away, by the voice of the writer and performer poetic Luís Ene. This is followed by the presentation of the play “O Sal de Marim”, by CTC. On the following day, the play «O Menino da Burra», an independent production by Luís Campião (21:30) takes to the stage.
On weekends, the program intensifies and there will be more than one session per day. On the 25th, Saturday, the evocative poetic performance of the Centenary of Futurism «Como SERejas» will be presented, at 18 pm, followed by the play «A night before the Forest», by Teatro Estúdio Fontenova, at 00:21 pm. On the 30th, the show «The colorful eggs chicken», by the group Fera Cultural, takes the stage at 26:11 am, followed, at 00:17 pm and at 00:21 pm, by the play «As Três Irmãs», by «UmColetivo», which received TimeOut's Best Show and Best Actress of the Year award.
The Albufeira International Theater Festival closes on the 27th of March, World Theater Day, with the play «O Milagre», by CTC. The show, scheduled for 21:30 pm, has the special participation of the São Bruno Choir, from Oeiras. There will also be talks about theater «with a message alluding to the date» and the Vicente Theater Awards will be awarded to local actors and agents.
Before Festival T starts, there is a lot to see in the Albufeira Auditorium. On Saturday, March 4th, the 1st round of the Arts Festival will take place, in which young people from the Algarve will be able to show their talent in music (instrument), singing and dance (modern, classical and traditional). The second round takes place on the 11th and the grand final is scheduled for March 18th. The shows always start at 16:00.
The cinema will also take place in the auditorium, with films aimed at children. On Sunday, the 5th, at 15 pm, the film «Sheep and Wolves» will be screened. On March 30, at the same time, the little ones will be able to see "An Adventure in the Jurassic".
On the 12th, the program is aimed at families, with the musical theater «Alice in Wonderland» taking the stage at 15:30 pm.
On the 30th of March, and after the much theater that will be provided by Festival T, the Auditório de Albufeira will host the XXVI Grand International Gala of the Accordion. The show, which starts at 21 pm, will feature Jérémy Lafon – France (World Champion), Pietro Adragna – Italy (World Champion), Jorge Alves, Rodrigo Maurício, Pedro Gonçalves and Francisco Saboia.
Tickets for Festival T and for the Accordion Gala can be purchased at CIAC and Lídia Jorge Municipal Library (weekdays from 9:00 am to 16:00 pm) and at the Albufeira Municipal Auditorium, on the day of the show from 19:30 pm to 21:15 pm.
The month's program ends on March 31, at 21 pm, with the 30rd GAJ concert that will bring to the Albufeira Municipal Auditorium the Portuguese singer-songwriter Filipe Pinto, winner of the 3 edition of the “Idolos” talent program. The Algarve artist Vítor Bacalhau will be responsible for the first part of the show.
