The completion of the construction of social housing in the Urbanização das Laranjeiras, in Altura, is in the public tender stage, and the work should progress "soon", said the Chamber of Castro Marim today.
The municipality explains that, in 2005, the Municipality delivered 24 social housing units, "with the promise of building the remaining 8, to respond to the households selected at the time".
In 2009, adds the City Council, the work began by direct administration, "in order to allow the local economy greater involvement, but the contractual requirements, available resources and the necessary guarantees for the work, revealed the procedure to be inadequate."
By 2015, the installation phase of the masonry and technical networks was completed and a tender was launched in 2016 to complete the project.
«This tender required a technical project and a specification, which assumed what was now built and what was necessary, but also by virtue of the New Local Finance Law, which started to produce budgetary effects in 2014, this was one of the many works that had to wait for the Municipality to adjust to its capacity to materialize», explains the City Council.
The building, with three floors, represents eight dwellings. Its attribution to the injured family members on that date “will now be re-evaluated by the municipality”.
Two commercial spaces will also be made available, which will be sold by Public Notice.
According to the municipality, these stores «in addition to ensuring the installation of two more businesses in the parish of Altura, in a window for Estrada Nacional 125, the main road in the Algarve, also known for the urgent need for a requalification intervention, will represent an important revenue for the Municipality, minimizing the construction costs of the entire building».
The construction of social housing in Urbanização das Laranjeiras has an overall cost of 600 euros, and the work that will now be carried out, for its completion, is estimated at around 320 thousand euros.
