The Algarve will be a pioneer nationwide in promoting an international event linked to smart regions (smart regions). The AMAL-Comunidade Intermunicipal do Algarve will promote the international forum «Next.Mov – Smart Region Summit», on the 18th and 19th of May, at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, in Portimão, to reflect on sustainable mobility and the administrative modernization of region.

This event will address sustainable urban mobility, public transport and digital governance, through debates with national and foreign guests, focused on the themes of "New forms of organization", "Electrical Mobility" and "Public Transport and Tourism".

«The Algarve is thus taking an important step towards consolidating a strong position in the field of intelligent systems, whose investment plan is around 25 million euros and is coordinated by AMAL and CCDR Algarve», according to the inter-municipal Algarve community.

In addition to the discussion panels, the initiative includes "a professional area of ​​digital governance aimed at municipalities and the tourism and education sector, with the aim of encouraging younger people to adhere to sustainable mobility and public transport".

In this showroom, special focus will be given to electric mobility and digital systems. In the «Mobi.show» space, which will present «the biggest electric mobility showcase to date in Portugal», it will be possible to make the Test Drive «of emblematic and innovative brands in the market».

In the same place, the «Next.Mov – Smart Region Summit» spaces can also be visited, where AMAL and CCDRA will show «what is going on in the Algarve region in terms of intelligent systems and the various services offered in the Algarve. domain of digital transformation at national level”, a “Start-up” space, coordinated by ANJE – National Association of Young Entrepreneurs, an area dedicated to “Cycling&Walking”, promoted by the Algarve Tourism Region and a “University” sector, where research into intelligent systems and technological education in Portuguese universities will be disseminated.

In the space of debates, the highlight is the 1st Meeting of Intermunicipal Transport Authorities, which AMAL and the National Association of Portuguese Municipalities will also promote together. More information about the event can be found online. Entry into the initiative is free.

“Next.Mov – Smart Region Summit” space – coordinated by AMAL and CCDR, with the strong participation of municipalities, agencies and public and private companies, shows what is underway in the Algarve region in terms of intelligent systems and the varied offers of services in the field of digital transformation at a level national.

“Cycling&Walking” space – coordinated by the Algarve Tourism Region, with the partnerships of Turismo de Portugal, the Algarve Tourism Agency, the Portuguese Federation of Cycling and Bicycle Users, the Almargem, Odiana and Rota Vicentina Associations, promoting modes of gentle mobility and of the great pedestrian and cycling routes at regional level.

“Mobi.show” space – shows the news, products, equipment, systems and rolling stock, as well as mobility services for people and goods (passenger transport and goods transport), in the various modes (road, soft mobility, shared mobility, electric, air, river and maritime, distribution, etc). It bets on the biggest electric mobility showcase in Portugal to date and on test drive animation of emblematic and innovative brands in the market, giving this component of the event a pedagogical and training character for the younger generation, with the presence of PRP, through of real demonstrations and experiences of road safety.

"Start-Up" space – coordinated by ANJE – National Association of Young Entrepreneurs and CRIA – Algarve Regional Center for Innovation, of the University
of the Algarve, for the dissemination of new solutions in terms of intelligent systems for digital transformation and mobility and transport.

“University” space – for dissemination to young people of the training component in the technological domain, but also to show what is done in Portuguese universities in terms of research and development of intelligent systems.

There will be a main debate event on “Smart Systems for Sustainable Urban Mobility”, in the format of 3 one-hour panels, with invitations to regional, national and international stakeholders, under the responsibility of AMAL.

At the same time, thematic seminars are held, organized by the promoters and/or in partnership with other entities, as well as the capture of events from associations in the sector that, through extraordinarily appealing conditions, will be able to carry out their initiatives within the Algarve Smart space Region

A number of initiatives are also confirmed, among which, with ANTROP for an event on “Public passenger transport” and with the Transporte Magazine – Veículos Elétricos, a conference on “Electric Mobility”.

AMAL and ANMP organize the 1st Meeting of Intermunicipal Transport Authorities. CCDR and RTA will promote a conference on “Tourist Mobility”.

In the field of Digital Transformation, ANAFRE puts forward a “Digital Parish” space. The National Agency for Qualification and Vocational Education promotes the “National Meeting on Digital Employability”, to involve the network of secondary schools and the IEFP.
