A collision between two cars this morning, at Ponte Barão, near Kadoc, almost at border between the municipalities of Loulé and Albufeira, it caused six light injuries and forced the cut of the EM526, which was closed until around 13 pm.

Source of the District Relief Operations Command told the Sul Informação that the alert was given at 11:30 am and that one of the wounded had to be released. The victims were transported to the Hospital of Faro.

In the relief operations were firefighters from Loulé and Albufeira, VMER from INEM, Cruz Vermelha and GNR, in a total of 17 operational and seven vehicles.

The EM526 has had a greater influx of traffic due to the ongoing works on the EN125, namely the bridge over the railway in the Fontainhas area. As these works reduced the EN125 to a lane, forcing alternate traffic, with traffic lights and long lines, many motorists are trying to escape the congestion, using the road where Ponte Barão is located.

The rain that continues to fall in the region may also have had an influence on this accident.

(Updated at 13:30 pm with update of the number of victims and information about the reopening of the road)
