The septuagenarian athlete Manuel João Faísca and the «extraordinary» young Bruno Gomes will receive votes of praise from the Chamber of São Brás de Alportel. The attribution of this distinction was approved this week, at the Chamber Meeting.

Manuel João Faísca will be distinguished “for the good results he continues to add in the numerous competitions in which he participates”. Bruno Gomes, on the other hand, is recognized “for the excellent performance he had on the television program “Extraordinários””, on RTP, according to the City Council of São Brás de Alportel.

 

About the winners:

São Brasense Manuel Joao Faisca, athlete of the Athletics Team of Associação Cultural Sambrasense and federated athlete of the Athletics Association of the Algarve continues to be a case of inspiration for all São Brasenses and sports fans. At the age of 72, he continues to win trophies in regional, national and international competitions.

In 2016 at his level, he was National Champion Masters of the Half-Marathon in Moita, National Champion of the 10 thousand meters in the city of Maia, National Champion of Corta-Mato Longo in Albufeira and also represented Portugal in the “European Championship Masters 2016” in Vila Royal of St. Anthony.

The year 2017 also started with excellent results, being the Regional Road Champion in Faro and Vice National Road Champion in Lisbon.

Adding victories with excellent results, Manuel Faísca is an example for the youngest, contributing to promote education for sport and encourage young people and athletes in the municipality. For his exemplary career dedicated to sport, the City Council awarded him a vote of praise, extended to his colleagues, family, team and all those who support him unconditionally.

Bruno Miguel da Silva Gomes is a young 18 year old from São Bras, who from a very early age began to feel a special fascination for puzzles. At just 7 years old, he was already completing 900 puzzles, followed by 1.000, then 2.000, a little later 5.000, 6.000… and at just 15 years old Bruno ventured into the biggest puzzle in the world which at that time contained 24 parts.
