The 10th edition of the lifeguard course will take place from 22 to 30 March, in the Covered Swimming Pools of São Brás de Alportel, with the objective of «preparing the trainees for the exercise of functions of surveillance, marine rescue, relief to shipwrecked and assistance to bathers at sea or in the pool».

Still, admission to this course implies that candidates successfully complete the entrance exams.

These are, for example, swimming 100 meters free in a maximum time of 1 minute and 50 seconds, an underwater swimming test (apnea) in a minimum time of 20 seconds, swimming 25 meters backwards only with leg kicks and picking up two objects to a minimum depth of 2 meters without glasses.

The course lasts 25 hours, in after-work hours, and enrollment, limited to 28 places, takes place at the São Brás Pools until February 21, and is aimed at young people aged 18 years or over deity.

This is an initiative that results from a partnership between the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel, Parish Council and Quantaventura and 4EMES.
