The “Complete Swimming Tournament”, on the 18th and 19th of February, and the “Regional School Sport Swimming Meeting”, on the 21st of the same month, between 13:00 and 18:00, will be staged at the Municipal Swimming Pools of Lagoa.
As for the first competition, which is aimed at swimmers between 8 and 12 years old, the competition has some specifics. This is because the classification is elaborated by event, category (cadets A and B) and gender, and the final result is the «sum of the points obtained in the set of tests performed by each swimmer», explains the Lagoa Council.
In this way, the «most complete swimmers» will be awarded, as each one has to compete in the 100 meters moth, breaststroke, freestyle and backstroke and in the 200 meters styles.
The “Regional School Sport Swimming Meeting” is aimed at students from Barlavento, whose schools have a swimming center, and the winners will compete in the regional qualifying phase for the National Championship.
The same will happen with whoever wins the “Encontros” of Lagos and Alvor.
Returning to the “Complete Swimmer Tournament”, in addition to being one of the «most important events in the category's competitive calendar», it will feature the presence of several clubs «and therefore an excellent show is expected, with the athletes at their maximum capacity and performance », considers the municipality of Lagos.
This competition is organized by the Algarve Swimming Association, in partnership with the Câmara de Lagoa, while the “Regional School Sport Swimming Meeting” is organized by the Padre António Martins de Oliveira Group of Schools (ESPAMOL), counting, also, with the support of the Municipality of Lagoa.
