The Consular Corps Accredited in the Algarve will commemorate the 750 years of the Algarve's integration into Portuguese territory in a ceremony that will take place on Thursday, February 16, at Pousada de Tavira, at 18:00.

At the session, there will be a representative of Dom Duarte, Duke of Bragança and heir to the Portuguese crown. (if Portugal were still a monarchy), and a member of the executive of the Ayuntamento de Badajoz, a Spanish city that gives its name to the treaty signed by the kings Alfonso III of Portugal and Alfonso X of Leão and Castile that determined that the Algarve would belong, in its entirety, to our country.

Also present will be the Bishop of Algarve Dom Manuel Quintas and Jorge Botelho, president of AMAL – Comunidade Intermunicipal do Algarve and of the Câmara de Tavira.

Guests will be invited to intervene in the session, which will also feature an address by the dean of the Consular Corps of the Algarve.

The «Algarve de Honra» initiative is jointly promoted by the consuls of Angola, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Slovakia, Estonia, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, United Kingdom and the Czech Republic, «in the context of multilateral cultural development» .

this ephemeris will also be shown at the University of Algarve, in an event that will bring together personalities from different areas.
