Between the 11th and the 28th of February, the windows of the traditional commerce stores in Praça da República, in Loulé, will receive the Exhibition of Carnival Costumes “O Tesouro Escondido”.

This exhibition, curated by Sónia Mendes, «was born from the emerging need to make known the collection of costumes and Carnival props produced over the years by the Municipality of Loulé, through the hands of exquisite seamstresses, who have also contributed to the beauty and creativity of this corsican», explains the City Council.

«It is in the Atelier de Sewing, located in the basement of a building (like so many others) right in the center of the city, that all these costumes that once dressed princes and princesses, clowns and witches, animals and characters from wrapping stories in this Carnival», adds the Loulé local authority.

In partnership with local businesses, part of this “treasure” will be displayed in shop windows, and the Loulé Chamber, which organizes the initiative, says that it “has in view the enhancement of a municipal heritage that is fundamental to history. of this important cultural event with more than a century of existence».
