The University of Algarve (UAlg) debuts this year the International Tourism Fair (FITUR 2017), in Madrid, which began today and continues until Sunday, January 22, in the Spanish capital.

UAlg is part of the Algarve stand, which the region shares with Porto and the North of Portugal. The Algarve university takes the opportunity to publicize its various aspects, including those most linked to the Tourism sector.

In a joint space and at the invitation of the Algarve Tourism Region, in addition to UAlg, they also have their own counter to promote their products and services, the Algarve Intermunicipal Community, the cultural program «365 Algarve», the Wine Route of the Algarve Algarve, the Mediterranean Diet project and the Algarve Nature Week.

Under the motto “Algarve is our Campus”, the University of Algarve will make known its greatest strengths and competences, mobility programs, initiatives such as “Summer Courses”, the offer and provision of services, focusing not only on Tourism sector, but also in all other areas and potentials.

For André Botelheiro, coordinator of the UAlg Communication Office, the University's participation in FITUR may be an asset for operators and professionals in this area and for the general public. “Spain is one of the countries that send more students to UAlg. Whether because of the proximity, or for historical reasons, or because of the partnerships with several universities and companies in this country, it makes perfect sense for us to be in FITUR”.

With regard to training, UAlg has seven programs focused on this sector. It offers two degrees, four masters and a doctorate in the field of tourism and hotel management.

Investing more and more in internationalization and targeting the global world, UAlg already teaches 17 master's programs and 17 doctoral programs in the English language.

Located in pavilion 4 of the fair, the Algarve stand will feature several moments of entertainment, including showcookings and wine tasting. Until Friday, it can only be visited by professionals. Saturday and Sunday will be open to the general public.
