Portimonense reinforced the isolated leadership of the II League by thrashing Sporting B by 4-0, in a game played this Sunday at Municipal de Portimão. The three points gained allowed the Algarve team to move away from the second placed team, which is now six points away and are another step towards the desired promotion to the I League.

In a match with the second team of one of the greats, and therefore surrounded by great expectations, Portimonense entered with full force – as has been the prerogative of the Algarve team, this season – and soon created danger. The ball circled Sporting B's area and, on 17 minutes, ended up in goal. Paulinho scored the first goal of the match, assisted by Pires, and made Municipal de Portimão celebrate.

Sporting B tried to react and, a few minutes later, managed a dangerous move, with the leonine striker's shot bumping into an alvinegro defender. The visitors claimed a penalty, but the referee ordered it to continue.

Sporting B's reaction was short and Portimonense returned to dominate the game, having extended the advantage in the 25th minute, in an insistence move, in which the leonine defense unsuccessfully tried to clear the ball inside their area, in a sequence of shots and rebounds, but left the ball at the mercy of Pires, who scored with a flashy bicycle kick.

Until half-time, Portimonense continued to dominate the game, but entered the second half more expectantly and allowed Sporting B to take the game. The lions attacked, but the situations they managed to create were being resolved by the home team's defense and goalkeeper, who responded, whenever possible, with quick attacks.

After a period of greater dominance by the visitors, the Portimão team once again stabilized its game and created more danger. In the 72nd minute, Paulinho was close to scoring twice and increasing the lead to 3-0, but he threw himself into the side net, after having managed to isolate himself in the heart of the area.

Portimonense's third goal came, in the 74th minute, in an individual play by Amilton, who made it through three and scored, despite the efforts of Kiki of Sporting B, who still tried to cut the ball over the line, but could not avoid the goal.

Portimonense still managed the fourth goal, in the final stretch of the match. In the 86th minute, captain Ricardo Pessoa shot across from inside the area, the ball hit the post, but Ewerton was in the right place to touch it into the goal.

With this victory, the 4th consecutive victory for the Portimão team in the II League, Portimonense reinforced its position as the isolated leader of the championship, with 55 points, 6 more than Desportivo das Aves, the second ranked, who drew this Saturday with the Porto B. The third place, Académica, is 19 points away, which puts the Algarve in an excellent position to guarantee promotion to the I League.
