The 67th annual meeting of the International Aeronautical Federation and the International Parachuting Commission will take place next weekend, January 28th and 29th, at the EVA Hotel, in Faro.

This event, which is the most relevant in the world in terms of recreational skydiving, will bring 102 senior managers from 27 countries to the capital of the Algarve.

Joining them will be "a few dozen more observers", who "will discuss the burning issues of the associative reality of world parachuting", says the Chamber of Faro.

Several countries competed for the organization of this meeting, with Portugal – and Faro -, been “the chosen destinations for this important mission”.

Recreational skydiving is, in the opinion of the Faro local authority, «an extremely valuable activity for the region, bringing in more than two million euros a year into the local economy».

In this sense, the Municipality of Faro «welcomes and gives an account of their great expectation in hosting such an important event».

This meeting will also have the support of several other official entities, such as the Algarve Tourism Region.

The Folklore Group of Faro it will also join the event, “brightening the closing gala with a performance representing the best of the Algarve folklore”.

The last time this meeting took place in Portugal was in 2004, in Carcavelos.
