The painting exhibition “Colors and Shapes in Harmony”, by Laurentino Cabaço, is on display at the municipal company of Portimão EMARP until February 10, and can be visited from 8:30 am to 17:30 pm on weekdays.

Laurentino Cabaço has developed, in painting, «all genres, not joining schools or currents», explains EMARP. «Autodidact, he acquired a very unique painting style in which form and color are a constant and varied presence», adds this entity.

«The luminosity and intensity of the play of colors creates a restful and contemplative view. The artist's art is somewhat identified with painting naive, based on the pure and delicately childlike features of the children, to whom Tino, the name by which he is also known, dedicated many years of his life and to whom he owes much», considers this municipal company from Portimo.

Laurentino Cabaço was born in 1943 in Zambujal, Loures. Since I was 11 years old, I have liked to draw and paint gouache. A few years later, he thought about developing his little talent further and began to present himself in small exhibitions.

“Tino was a primary school teacher for 40 years. After many years of insistence by his students, friends and family, he presented himself in 1978 in a more serious exhibition for beginners. After this presentation, he started to dedicate more time to painting and sculpture», concludes EMARP.
