A bricklayer, four hackers, a plumber, two public transport drivers and a carpenter were hired by the Câmara de Lagos, and the contracts for these workers were signed yesterday, January 3rd.

This was, for Maria Joaquina Matos, «a good moment to start another year of activity and of municipal public service».

The autarchy's new workers will have a public employment relationship, in the form of work in public functions for an indefinite period, and will occupy jobs that over the past few years have been left vacant due to the retirement of previous workers.

«The maintenance of public space, respective circulation routes, green spaces and municipal facilities is an area considered essential by the Municipality to ensure the quality of the urban environment and the attractiveness of the city and the various urban centers of the municipality, justifying the investment in human resources and in the renovation of machinery that, little by little, but in a consistent and sustainable way, the municipality has been taking over», explains the Câmara de Lagos.

The use of the municipal fleet of vehicles for transporting passengers is another sector, which, according to the municipality, is considered critical “for the proper functioning of support for school activities, as well as for the dynamization of sports, cultural and recreational associations, which much of its operation is supported by municipal infrastructures».

The moment of signing the contracts was attended by the municipal executive permanently, and the leaders and heads of the teams that will receive these new employees, "thus marking the first step of an integration process that is intended to be fast and effective", he concludes the Chamber of Lagos.
