The «Resources Guide for the Municipality of Silves», which brings together the contacts of the various services, institutions and communities existing in the municipality, as well as some numerical data on Silves, was updated and reissued by the Câmara Silvense.
According to the Municipality of Silves, this document "may be a useful tool in the daily work of all those dealing with issues associated with the promotion of social development", given the "very diversified information" it contains, namely the contacts of projects/entities of “areas as varied as local government, social action, health, education, employment, security, sport, youth, culture, tourism, transport and other public services”.
This guide was updated within the scope of the Silves Social Network, a structure whose work was important, in the view of the mayor of Silves Rosa Palma, who argues that «proximity is one of the principles dear to this autarchy». «Being closer to the citizens and finding inclusion and sharing strategies, promoting their sustainable development, guaranteeing everyone a better quality of life» is another objective pointed out by the mayor.
To this end, the municipality developed “a set of initiatives aimed at supporting the elderly, young people, children and other sections of the population and, in this sense, the Social Action Sector (Division of Education, Sports, Youth and Social Action ) has carried out important work, especially with regard to establishing partnerships that can contribute to alleviating situations of poverty and exclusion».
