cliff-fisherman-lakes2A recreational fisherman, with a fractured left leg, was rescued yesterday, December 11, from a cliff, after having fallen, in the vicinity of Praia do Amado, in Costa Vicentina.

The operation, which lasted between 17:00 and 19:30, involved the Maritime Police and the Voluntary Firefighters of Vila do Bispo.

According to the National Maritime Authority (AMN), "the alert was received at the Maritime Police picket at 16:40 pm, through the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisbon)."

There were two Maritime Police officers with an all-terrain vehicle and a large-angle team of the Vila do Bispo Firefighters at the site, as this fisherman was in a «difficult to reach place, with no possibility of rescue by sea. and air'. The action was coordinated by the Captain of the Port of Lagos.

The injured fisherman was «transported by the INEM team to the Hospital Center of Barlavento Algarvio, in Portimão», concludes AMN.
