The "Christmas Market" initiative, which takes place this weekend, December 3rd and 4th, from 14 pm to 00 pm, in Guia, will feature music, handicrafts, a street nativity scene, and traditional gifts.
This initiative will also have drinks and food “allusive to the time, served by the Parish associations”. This Christmas market will accompany the figures from the street nativity scene, walking along Rua General Humberto Delgado and Rua 25 de Abril, in the center of the village.
The Rrua crib, which can be visited until January 8th, is, in turn, composed of a set of large figures representing various historical scenes associated with the birth of Jesus: the angel's annunciation to Mary, the Nativity, having characters like King Herod and the Three Kings among other figures that usually populate the Christmas nativity scenes.
In total, the sculptor Toin Adams, a British artist residing in the Algarve for more than a decade, presents 30 figures that extend «a considerable extension between the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Guia and the Igreja Matriz», explains the Municipality of Albufeira.
As for this Christmas market, the municipality of Albufeirense says that «about 50 exhibitors, including producers and local associations, will be the target of the attention of the many visitors who are expected this weekend, through their handicrafts, toys , trinkets or Christmas decorations'.
On both days of this event, the Bandinha Popular da Sociedade Musical e Recreio Popular de Paderne will perform from 15:00 to 16:30.
On Sunday, at the Igreja Matriz in Guia, at 19:30 pm, the Albufeira Conservatory will be present at the closing concert, which will include the guitar and violin duo composed by Savva Pereverzev (Violin) and Petr Pereverzev (Guitar).
