French-speaking Belgian Radio Television (RTBF) awarded the “Trophée des Belges du bout du Monde” (Trophy of Belgians around the World), in the Economy category, to the Saboreal canning factory, located in Parchal (Lagoa).

The presence of the young company in this competition in Belgium, which promotes innovative projects around the world, is explained by the fact that one of the partners, Vincent Jonckheere, is of Belgian nationality.

The young Belgian businessman, who has lived for some years in Ferragudo, in the Algarve, was even the guest of an edition of that program, which can be viewed by clicking here.

"This foreign distinction underscores the ability of Portuguese companies to create interest outside the country," says Saboreal, in a press release.

A Saboreal canning was born in July 2015, after its three young founders realized that «the local tradition in the production of preserves was almost extinct, there were not even factories operating in the Barlavento Algarve».

The three young entrepreneurs decided to focus on small but high quality production, assuming themselves as a radically artisanal canning factory, betting on people instead of machines.

The preserves created try to combine the ingredients that exist in the Algarve, with the very high quality fish that exist on the Algarve coast, using small local producers to obtain the best possible raw materials.

However, in addition to selling your product in gourmet stores in the Algarve and the rest of the country, Saboreal is already exporting to several countries, namely Belgium, Poland and France.
