The Portimão NHS Users Commission called a sit-in, in front of the Hospital de Portimão, for January 14, at 15 pm. The concentration aims to "defend the Hospital de Portimão and the National Health Service."
In a note sent to the newsrooms, the Portimão NHS Users Commission, “denounces that the evident degradation of services that users face daily at the Hospital de Portimão continues” and adds that “the Hospital de Portimão is no longer a reliable resource , to become a cause for concern and fear for users who resort to it. The lack of material and human resources has been denounced for a long time and the indignation of the professionals who work there is unanimous».
According to the commission, “only the professionals' enormous dedication and resistance has avoided greater harm. Users do not forget the importance of the confrontation of the previous Government that almost destroyed the NHS, but the current situation demands answers that are slow to be taken».
This group of citizens “demands the immediate resolution of the problems verified and affirms that they will do everything to make this an effective evidence”.
«The social and human importance of the Hospital de Portimão for the county and for the entire region, deserves that we remain attentive and mobilize the populations and professionals in its defense», concludes the Commission of Users.
