This week, the Municipality of Portimão concluded its investment, of 25 thousand euros, in the Integrated System of Emergency and Safety Networks of Portugal (SIRESP) of the Fire Department, thus increasing the «security levels through georeferencing in the theaters of operations'.
The Municipal Center for Civil Protection and Relief Operations and the operational structure of the Firefighters of Portimão also gain “a greater capacity for interconnection with other Civil Protection agents,” according to the Portimão autarchy.
Of the various devices acquired, the Portimão Council highlights the “crucial acquisition of portable equipment that can be used in explosive atmospheres by the 1st alarm teams and a battery of radios to be made available in the event of a serious accident or catastrophe to field workers”.
The reinforcement of equipment aims to respond to the needs felt by the Fire Department of Portimão and was provided for in the Activities Plan of the Municipal Civil Protection Service.
