The Deputy Secretary of State and of Justice announced "improvement of prison conditions in the Algarve region", during her visit, this Wednesday, to the Prison of Silves, to inaugurate the new entrance, palratório and training room.
Helena Mesquita Ribeiro revealed that, in 2017, the «installation of video-surveillance systems in all of the Algarve's Prisons», the «creation of infrastructure for intimate visits in the Algarve's EPs», the construction of a «multipurpose workshop in Olhão , fully equipped', as well as a 'workshop' in Silves.
The Secretary of State added that the State Budget for 2017, under discussion in the Assembly of the Republic, "destines a total of 10,5 million euros for the Social Reintegration Service and for the Prison System". The «Reintegration and Prison Services Department will have a 200% reinforcement compared to 2016», he stressed.
Helena Mesquita Ribeiro also added that the renewal of the cellular vehicle fleet is already underway, which is undergoing an international public tender in the amount of 3 million euros.
