Helena Mesquita Ribeiro revealed that, in 2017, the «installation of video-surveillance systems in all of the Algarve's Prisons», the «creation of infrastructure for intimate visits in the Algarve's EPs», the construction of a «multipurpose workshop in Olhão , fully equipped', as well as a 'workshop' in Silves.

The Secretary of State added that the State Budget for 2017, under discussion in the Assembly of the Republic, "destines a total of 10,5 million euros for the Social Reintegration Service and for the Prison System".
