PSP_1A 23-year-old man in Olhão, and two others, aged 31 and 50, in Lagos, were arrested for drug trafficking, the PSP announced today.

In Olhão, the “police acumen” of a Rapid Intervention Team led to the detection of the vehicle in which the detainee had 28 individual doses of cocaine, packed in different packages. In addition, PSP also seized two banned weapons and some money.

In Lagos, the arrest of the two men, one foreigner and the other Portuguese, was “the culmination of a lightning investigation that had at its base the collection of news relating to movements that aroused the attention of residents and the police”.

"Individuals were approached on the street, simultaneously and close to their usual homes, but not before one of them tried to get rid of some drug he had in his possession", namely, "21 doses of cocaine", says the PSP .

The two suspects were then arrested, followed by house searches, which resulted in the seizure of a total of 9850 doses of heroin, 1780 individual doses of cocaine and around 5000 euros in cash.

"Several mobile communications equipment, a vehicle, bottles with a product commonly used to cut the narcotic product, a compressed air weapon similar to a pistol and other material related to this illicit activity were also seized," adds the PSP.

The detained Portuguese citizen had already served an effective prison sentence for the same type of crime and now remained under the measure of coercion of periodic presentations following a PSP investigation this year.

Both detainees will now be brought before the judicial authority in order to apply coercive measures.
