The solution for the functioning problems of the Center for Medicine and Rehabilitation of the South seems to be close to being known. The mayor of São Brás de Alportel revealed this Friday that the minister of Health "wants to come and present the center's management model by the end of this year."
In a meeting with journalists to take stock of his three-year mandate, Vítor Guerreiro said that he has “been in direct dialogue” with the Minister of Health. “I had a meeting with him at the end of September and, since then, we have been in contact. Last Friday, I spoke to him on the cell phone and he decided to schedule a meeting this month with me, to let me know what is going on at the Medicine Center».
According to the mayor, “in the minister's words, the CMR is a priority for the Government. There is an investment plan to be made and a management model has been defined that it wants to present to São Brás by the end of this year, so that the Medicine Center can return to full functioning and be attractive to health professionals».
Vítor Guerreiro also added that “the minister ordered the opening of tenders for the acquisition of technical aid and medical material” and that “a survey of the large investments that have to be made to requalify the center and provide it with equipment that could be obsolete".
Therefore, the mayor says he is "satisfied with the news we have" and "I think that, until evidence to the contrary, things are on the right track. We hope that, by the beginning of the year, the management model will be announced and the center will be fully operational again», he concluded.
