burger king learThe bilingual film «Burger King Lear», which is a deconstruction of the play «King Lear» by William Shakespeare, will be shown on November 22, at 16 pm, at the Álvaro de Campos Library, in Tavira, on December 00, at 6:15 pm, at the Casa dos Condes de Alcoutim, and on December 00th, at 7:15 pm, at the Costume Museum of São Brás de Alportel.

This film is directed by João Garcia Miguel and serves to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death. Produced in 2006, this film was a «new, bold and powerful look at this classic, which shows the picture of the fragility of a man who seeks validation of the love that his daughters and subjects feel for him», explains Associação Partilha Alternativa que organizes this initiative.

"The theatrical game with scarce resources abuses the audience's almost childlike capacity for imagination and moves them," he adds. Anton Skrzpiciel and Miguel Borges speak one in English, the other in Portuguese. The result, for this association, is «fascinating and sounds familiar to residents of the Algarve, where foreigners and nationals communicate in this way, with a satisfactory degree of understanding».

João Garcia Miguel will be present to talk about his passion for the author and for theater classics in general, and about the «freedom he takes when performing his reinterpretations, in absolute respect for their essences and total desecration of their known forms». What interests him in the universe of classical dramaturgy is the discussion about the essence of each work.

«It is this scenic architecture that gives us the interior forms we want to access. We want to understand what material dreams are made of and what transports us beyond everyday existence», considers João Garcia Miguel.

This initiative is part of the 365 Algarve program.
