The Union of Parishes of Lagoa and Carvoeiro offered equipment to various local teams as a way to support them in the current sporting season. This is "additional support, which is added to the annual protocols signed with the communities", according to the municipality.
The recipients of this measure are, almost entirely, youth teams from different communities. The exception is Carvoeiro United, which does not have youth teams, so support will be given to the senior team.
In the case of Lagoa Académico Clube (LAC), the new jerseys, with the logo of the Union of Parishes of Lagoa and Carvoeiro, are already being used by teams of female youth and male initiates.
Sporting Clube de Lagoense and Grupo Desportivo de Lagoa will also be contemplated with this offer to the training levels.
And even equipment with more specific characteristics were not forgotten, as the support extends to the Martial Arts Association of Lagoa, which will receive gis «for children who want to practice martial arts and are unable to purchase the necessary equipment».
“Our support for communities is the recognition of the extraordinary work they do for our society and for young people. They play an important role in the healthy and balanced growth of our children and we cannot remain indifferent to this. This is what we have been doing, reinforcing, whenever possible, support for the clubs, year after year», stresses Joaquim João, president of the União das Freguesias de Lagoa and Carvoeiro.
