Organ of the Board of FaroTen concerts distributed by five churches in the region, to be held between 28 October and 26 November, are the ingredients of the 9th Algarve Organ Festival, in 2016 for the first time extended from Faro for the municipalities of Portimão, Loulé and Tavira.

Portimão hosts the inaugural concert of the Algarve Organ Festival, on 28 October, at Igreja Matriz, with the participation of organist Nuno Alexandrino and Coral Adágio, directed by conductor António Alves. In the program, emphasis is given to the demanding work “Stabat Mater” by João Rodrigues Esteves, for Choir and Organ.

The next concert at the Igreja Matriz in Portimão takes place on November 11th, with the organist Rafael Reis. In a solo presentation, works from the Italian, Portuguese, and English organ school will be interpreted.

On 4 November, the Igreja Matriz in Boliqueime hosts the first of the organ concerts at the venue, with organist João Paulo Janeiro. The program has as its motto “Dance as a matrix in the organistic repertoire” and covers various rhythmic dance typologies.

On November 18, organist Nuno Alexandrino performs at the Igreja Matriz in Boliqueime, with a comprehensive program but especially focused on Iberian music.

In Tavira, the Church of Santiago welcomes the organist Tiago Ferreira on November 18, for a concert program contrasting with works by composers from Portugal, Spain, Italy, France, Germany and the Netherlands.

The following week, on the 25th of November, the organ of the Igreja da Misericórdia will echo in the hands of Tadeu Filipe, who will present works by lesser-known, but very interesting, composers.

the concerts in Faro they begin on November 5th, at Igreja do Carmo, in chamber music format, with João Paulo Janeiro and Filipa Oliveira (organ and recorder), followed by a solo performance on November 12th by organist Rafael Reis .

in the Cathedral of Faro, the historical organ will sound on November 19th, by the organist Tiago Ferreira, while the closing of the Festival will be in charge of Tadeu Filipe, on November 26th.

All concerts take place at 21 pm and are free to enter.

The Algarve Organ Festival is organized by Associação Cultural Música XXI. It has the support of the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve and the Municipalities of Faro, Loulé, Tavira and Portimão, with support for the dissemination of the Algarve Tourism Region, with communication partners Antena 2, Sul Informação and Rua FM and with the Hotel accommodation partner Faro.
