The flora of the Mediterranean gardens will be the central theme of the Autumn Fair, which takes place this Saturday, October 29, between 11:00 and 16:00 at the Museu do Trajo in São Brás de Alportel.
At this event, various species of trees, shrubs, plants and even seeds will be on display, suitable for the construction of a Mediterranean-style garden, "which has numerous options and can survive the hottest months of the year, even with a low water resource" , says the Chamber of São Brás.
The initiative also has three lectures for free participation. At 11 am Daisy Mae from the company «Ceratonia» will talk about the production of medicinal aromatic plants and their effects. «An oasis at hand to sow» is the starting point for the landscape architect Gonçalo Duarte Gomes, who will address the issue of the sustainability of gardens in the Algarve, starting at 30 pm.
Finally, the contemporary and traditional uses of aromatic herbs and their application in the treatment of people and plants will be the theme of the lecture given by Fernanda Botelho, at 14:30 pm.
The Mediterranean Gardens Autumn Fair is organized by the Association for Gardens in a Mediterranean Climate (Mediterranean Gardening AssociationPortugal), will have a catering service for visitors and entry costs 1 euro and is free for children under 16 years old.
