The first edition of the Semana Cultural do Brasil, which focused on literature, in its relationship with cinema, critics and research, was a success.

The program ended this Saturday, after the kick-off was given last Monday, with a session and a reception at the António Ramos Rosa Municipal Library.

In the opening session, chaired by Ambassador Igor Kipman, Consul General of Brazil in Faro, Grupo Coral Ossónoba performed three of the best known Brazilian popular songs: «Felicidade» by Lupicínio Rodrigues, «Garota de Ipanema» by Tom Jobim and Vinícius de Moraes, and also, in honor of the city where the Paralympic Games took place, « Marvelous City”, by André Filho.

Ambassador Igor Kipman joked that the fact of being in a wheelchair was not, "but it could be", a tribute to the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, but just the result of having broken a leg a few days earlier.

Many of the most prominent members of the Brazilian community in the Algarve and Baixo Alentejo participated in the ceremony and cocktail party that followed (served by Tertúlia Algarvia), as well as other members of the consular bodies, military and ecclesiastical authorities, as well as mayors, businessmen, artists and intellectuals.
