Seizure cucumbers and traps_changedThe Maritime Police seized 100 kilos of sea cucumbers, illegally caught, and three webs of shelter traps used in prohibited zones, in an inspection carried out on September 6, between Ponta da Piedade and the Port of Sagres.

The inspection took place between 6:30 am and 12:30 pm and aimed to "combat illegal activities in this area," said the National Maritime Authority.

Two professional fishing vessels, a local auxiliary vessel and a professional catcher, who were catching sea cucumbers in a prohibited zone, were inspected. The harvested product, about 100 kilos, was returned to its natural habitat.

In the action, five news reports were raised that will lead to administrative infraction proceedings and three webs of shelter traps were seized, with a total of 105 traps, which were set in a prohibited zone, without being identified and signaled.

This operation involved three elements and a vessel from the Local Command of the Maritime Police of Lagos.
