Paralympic GamesAthletes from Portugal competed in two finals, both finishing in 6th place, on the 3rd day of competition at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, which are taking place in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro.

In the 100 meters T52, Mário Trindade (in the photo) completed the distance in 18.19 seconds, with the same time as the 5th placed and just 50 hundredths of a second from the podium.

Inês Fernandes also finished 6th in the weight loss final, with her best release obtained in the third test with 11.69 meters, confirming her good form.

Carolina Duarte was the only one to take action in athletics qualifiers this Saturday, in the T100 13-meter race. The distance, covered in 12.53 seconds, was worth the athlete's best personal mark and corresponded to the 3rd best time in the series and direct qualification for the final, which takes place this Sunday.

In swimming, the only representative today was Simone Fragoso, who debuted in the 50 meters class S5 moth. The time of 56.23 seconds earned him 12th place overall, however insufficient to dispute the final.

Bocce came into action today in the competition between teams and pairs.

Team BC1-2 composed of Abílio Valente, António Marques, Cristina Gonçalves and Fernando Ferreira entered a competition against Argentina, failing to impose themselves and ending with a 1-7 defeat.

In the second game of the day with Slovakia, the story was different and the game ended with the advantage for Portugal, with a clear 12-1.
