Espiche golfEspiche Golf, in the municipality of Lagos, has just finalized an investment estimated at 150 euros in the course, with the aim of improving the game and experience of golfers on its golf course.

Luís Rocha, general director of Espiche Golf, explains that “this investment phase, budgeted at 150 euros, coincided with our 3rd anniversary. The main changes took place at the level of fairways e bunkers, in order to improve the Golf experience for all players of all handicaps".

The person in charge also highlighted “the construction of a new short game practice area, which will complement the existing offer and place our Driving Range, as a reference of the offer of the region. Likewise, the acquisition of “Huxley Golf” artificial grass mats in the Driving Range will allow it to be used all year round, regardless of weather conditions or natural grass”.

Among the improvements implemented are also the integral fencing of the field, preventing any damage caused by wild boar, the widening of the paths to the Buggy Experience, in order to protect the teas and os greens, and the creation of a new car park to accommodate the growing demand of members and visitors.

The investment also included the pumping area, with efficiency gains throughout the system, with obvious environmental benefits.

Espiche Golf gained worldwide recognition by becoming the first golf club outside the United States of America to achieve a prominent position in the “Clubhouse of the Year” awards promoted by the prestigious Golf Inc Magazine.

The Portuguese golf club won 3rd place in the “New Construction and Remodeling” category, integrating a select group of awardees. Efficiency, aesthetics and overall design concept were the evaluation criteria considered by a jury with a background in architecture, design and golf.

O clubhouse Espiche Clube, inaugurated in May 2014, stood out among the hundreds of applications from clubhouse from all over the world for its innovative design, project sustainability and creativity.

Espiche Golf is located just a few minutes from the coast and the city of Lagos. The architect Peter Sauerman conceived the course in such a way as to integrate it into the surrounding landscape, and in its maintenance there is an extreme concern to preserve the natural and unique ecosystem of the National Ecological Reserve, where the field is located, guarantee its promoters.
