NEI posterAt the European Researchers' Night, on September 30, starting at 20 pm, the Centro Ciência Viva de Lagos (CCVL) proposes a discussion on cognitive improvement. On this evening, which invites the public and scientists to come closer, the CCVL, in its facilities, “invites everyone to discover the challenges that the future holds for science”.

This year, «when the future will be highlighted at the European Researchers' Night, the CCVL chose the theme of cognitive improvement at a time when the rapid technological advances enable new realities that need a broad discussion», explains the centre.

Anchoring in the film “Sem Limites” (Neil Burguer, 2011), excerpts from the film will be discussed with three guests: Inês Araújo, assistant professor at the Department of Biomedical Science and Medicine at the University of Algarve and principal researcher at CBMR (Centre for Biomedical Research), where she studies the capacity of brain repair, Edmeia Monteiro, a doctor with a specialty in Neurology at the Clínica do Coração and Marta Camacho, a neuropsychologist at the Champalimaud Foundation Clinical Center, where she assesses cognitive functions in patients with cognitive complaints (usually after chemotherapy, brain radiotherapy) and in cognitive rehabilitation.

The doors of the CCVL will be open "to all who wanted to participate in this celebration where we will have a cocktail and entertainment throughout the night."

For the day before, in collaboration with Cinema de Lagos, the film “Sem Limites” will be screened with some activities for secondary school students.
