Faro will host the main event of the National University Trail Championship on October 23, as part of the event «Faro Campus Trail», which takes place on October 23 at the UAlg Campus of Gambelas and on the Pontal and Ludo forest trails.
This initiative will have two routes – a 25 kilometer trail and a 10 kilometer mini trail/walk. The 25-kilometer course is part of the Algarve Trail Circuit 2016 and will count for the 2016/2017 University National Championship.
The start for both tests will be given in front of the Library of Gambelas of the University of Algarve. The route of the race will be done inside the Campus of Gambelas and in the adjacent forests of Pontal and Ludo.
According to the criteria defined for trail competitions in Portugal, the 25 km Trail is classified as a Long Trail with a level of difficulty of Level 1. The Mini-trail 10 km is a Short Trail with a level of difficulty of Level 1 .
O Faro Campus Trail is organized by the University of Algarve and Altimetria Associação Desportiva, and has the collaboration of the Câmara de Faro and the Sports Office of the Academic Association (AAUalg). The main objective is «to promote running and sports on trails in the Algarve».
