550 children from São Brás de Alportel will take a ride from the City Council to and from school throughout the school year that has just begun.
The municipality of São Paulo will provide free daily transport to children and young people who study in schools belonging to the José Belchior Viegas Group, to ensure that «everyone has access to education».
"This municipal service covers 25 circuits in the municipality, using seven drivers and nine vehicles, one of which is equipped with an appropriate system for the transport of people with reduced mobility, in order to ensure comfortable and safe travel for all passengers”, according to the City Council of São Brás de Alportel.
To ensure a safe journey, each driver is accompanied by one or two guards, depending on the vehicle's capacity, “who provide support in supervising children and young people during their journeys”.
«The School Transport Service is a measure to support education carried out by the City Council which provides for helping parents and relatives of students in the routines created during the school period, ensuring the transport of students residing in the municipality to the school they attend, allowing these young people are not deprived of access to education», concluded the City Council of São Brás de Alportel.
