Future bakery roundaboutThe contract to build two new roundabouts, at the intersections of the Mercado and the Bakery, in Portimão, was approved last week at a council meeting, with an investment expected to exceed 200 thousand euros.

The municipality considers that these are «two critical traffic points in the city of Portimão», where the City Council will intervene through the construction of two roundabouts, like the Sul Informação I had already reported.

The construction of the Mercado roundabout, at the intersection of Avenida São João de Deus and Avenida Francisco Sá Carneiro, will allow traffic to circulate in both directions along the entire length of that avenue, namely from the V6 to Alameda da República, consolidating a “new entrance” to the city center.

At the “Breadmaker” crossing, one of the critical traffic points in Portimão, access to Caldeira do Moinho will also be benefited, already thinking about the future Road Station.

The contract for the construction of the two new roundabouts has an estimated duration, after being awarded, of 6 months.
