saves livesThe Captaincy of the Port of Faro promotes tomorrow, the 23rd of September, a maritime rescue exercise, with the objective of testing the “Barra Comum Maritime Rescue Plan Faro/Olhão".

Means will be used from the Port Captaincies and the Local Commands of the Maritime Police of Faro and Olhão and the Institute of Aid to Shipwrecks (ISN), as well as naval resources of the Navy.

The exercise also counts on the collaboration of the Port Authority (the Administration of the Ports of Sines and Algarve), of the Airport of Faro, of the “Olhão Pesca” Association and the “Tunipex” company.

The National Maritime Authority explains that this initiative is part of its strategy of “reviewing emergency planning in all Port Captaincies, associated with the increased risk of maritime accidents in the autumn and winter period, given the weather conditions prevailing at that time of year ».

“Given the history of these accidents, the bars of ports are places with a significant prevalence of this type of occurrence. Thus, emergency rescue plans for the booms have been developed», explains AMN.
