João Vieira and Sérgio Vieira, twins and natives of Portimão, ran, today, the Olympic competition of the 20 km march, having been in 31st and 53rd place, respectively, in a total of 63 athletes. The test was won by the Chinese Zhen Wang, who completed the course in 1 hour 19 minutes and 14 seconds.
At 40 years old, João Vieira completed the race in 1 hour 23 minutes and 3 seconds, having arrived 3 minutes and 49 seconds after the winner.
Sérgio Vieira came in 53rd position, completing the 20 kilometers in 1 hour 27 minutes and 39 seconds, 8 minutes and 25 seconds more than Zhen Wang.
João Vieira will also run the 50 km march event, on August 17th, at 12:00. Sérgio Vieira, on the other hand, ended his participation in marching competitions.
