Ivo LopesPortuguese driver Ivo Lopes, from Lisbon's Kawasaki Oneundret Racing Team, took an important step this Sunday towards the European Superstock 600 title, after winning both the class races held today at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.

After getting yesterday to pole in the class, the Amadora driver had bad starts in both races, which made him lose positions and ground to his opponents in the championship.

But as the laps went by, Ivo actually managed, on both occasions, to bounce back and up to first place in the class, to secure two more victories, for a total of four this season.

With these performances, Ivo Lopes increased his lead in the championship to 37 points, which leaves him free from the obligation of winning in the next round to be champion in the category.

“I'm always too cautious at starts and I end up suffering from it, but we managed to win both races and that makes us more comfortable for the closing of the championship. There are two races to go and we can be champion in the next one.” commented the pilot.

On the other hand, in Superbike, Tiago Magalhães, also from the Portuguese team Kawasaki Oneundret Racing Team, was 7th overall and 2nd ranked among privateers in the first race of the day. This was his best result of the year.

Tiago Magalhães was forced to recover, after failing to brake for the first corner, to be, in the second race, 9th overall and 4th in the privateers.

Magalhães even climbed to 2nd place among privateers at the FIM CEV 2016, with three races still to go, so the final victory in the class is still possible for the national champion Superbike in title.

“It was a very positive weekend, where we showed our full potential. We took pole in the Superstock 600 and in the SBK privateers, we won both races in the Superstock 600 and are second in the SBK privateers. To this we also add that, this weekend, both Tiago and Ivo made their personal records at this track. It was another weekend where everyone worked fantastically and now we are going to concentrate on bringing the title home and recovering more points in the privateers”, commented Ricardo Duarte, the Lisbon team manager.
