PrintThe exhibition/artistic installation “Neptuno”, by Elizabeth Almeida, with UNESCO and International Year of Light seal, and patronage of the Millennium bcp Foundation, opens this Friday, August 5, at 21 pm, at the Museum of Portimao.

The artist's work is divided into two moments. The exhibition, which begins inside the museum, through four sculptures that invoke some marine species, continues outside this space and assumes the character of an installation, expanding the environment of the fish transporter and activating the structure as a scenario that continues the part. expository.

«The Exhibition/Installation focused on the sea and fantasy invokes the mystery and discovery that, continuously, overflow with novelty, abundance and the inexhaustible richness offered by the oceans. The work presented marks, through the fish transporter and illuminated baskets, the old path of the fish carried from the boats' holds to the interior of the factory. On the other hand, through the sculptures inside the museum, it is possible to feel the ancient relationship between the resources of the sea and the communities that have always been present in the history of Portimão since antiquity», explains the organization.

The artwork presented and the works are also a tribute to fishermen and canners, «authentic Neptunes from another era where tridents were replaced by fishing nets, tongs and fish scissors».

The exhibition/installation will be on display at the Museu de Portimão until the 29th of August and can be visited on Tuesdays from 19:30h to 23:00h and from Wednesday to Sunday from 15:00h to 23:00h.

On the opening day, there will be a tasting promoted by Docapesca, in collaboration with the Hotel and Tourism School of Portimão, where the fish from the Portuguese auctions will also evoke in guests memories with a taste of the sea.

In 2017, the Exhibition/Installation will travel to other Municipalities in the Algarve.
