12The exhibition “Colors and Shapes of Our Artists”, of painting and sculpture, has “the aim of promoting the artistic work of local people” and will be on display until 17 September at the Municipal Gallery in Albufeira.
The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Friday, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 13:30 pm to 17:30 pm. The Gallery is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
On the opening day of this exhibition, which has 18 authors in a total of 56 works, the prizes of the competition from which this exhibition results were awarded. The jury awarded three prizes and two honorable mentions.
The top three winners were Brian Mehl (“Les Quite Grandes Baigneuses”), Lino Gonçalves (“Only for Another Million Years”) and Luís Romão (“The Big Tree Of Life”), and monetary prizes in the amount of 750, 500 and 250 euros, respectively.
Two Honorable Mentions were also given to Luísa Soares, for the work entitled “Vertigem”, and to António Correia for the composition “Interdito”.
The exhibition includes 13 more works selected by the competition jury: “Voando entre Azul”, painting by Maria da Graça Cabanita, “Cruxification”, painting by Manuel Rodrigues Ribeiro, “Luzes do Dia”, painting by Verónica Martins, “Um Outros Olhar Sobre TIMOR”, painting by Sónia Balão Fernandes, “Mar”, painting by Rosa Barriga, “River Landscape and Rocky Mountains”, painting by Joaquim José Veiga, “Vende-se Laranjas”, painting by Maria Jesus Feliciano, “Abstract” , painting by Anabela Alambre, “The Return Home and Someone Lost His Glasses”, sculpture by José da Piedade Vieira, “The Enchantment of Night in Albufeira”, painting by José Dâmaso, “Catadoras”, painting by Maria Zélia Rebelo, and finally “Projeções”, painting (watercolor) by Susana Gonçalves.
The exhibition was visited by a delegation from Ilha do Sal, Cape Verde, led by President Jorge Figueiredo, who was in the municipality of Albufeira to participate in the celebrations for the Municipality Day and «strengthen the twinning agreement that unites the two cities. », says the municipality.
This competition, which resulted in the exhibition, has been held since 1997 (only interrupted in the 2013 edition) and is biennial in nature.
