It will be possible to play quidditch, to take pokemons, on one Hotspot, and fight with lightsabers, at the 5th edition of the Manga & Comic Event, which takes place, on August 20th and 21st, at the Algarve Hotel and Tourism School, in Faro.
In an interview with Sul Informação, Jennifer Guerreiro, president of Algarve Geeks Nucleus, explained that these activities will be the big news this year, but not the only ones: «we are going to have an electronics workshop for those who want to learn the basics to be able to use them in costumes. cosplay or even other electronic assemblies. In addition, we will still teach how to make Japanese sweets and we will have more stores with specialty items than last year».
After the previous editions were at the IPDJ, in Faro, this year the Manga & Comic Event will have a larger space: «The space has become too small for the people we receive. This year, we are counting on receiving even more», explained Jennifer Guerreiro.
For the president of the Algarve's Geeks Group, the forecast for the number of visitors is «2000 to 2500 people». Coming only from the Algarve? "Above all, but there will also be people from Spain, Lisbon and Porto," he said.
This event, which can be dubbed the “Comic Con do Algarve”, arose from the lack of such an event in the region. “We visited several events around the country and abroad and decided to start with this initiative, because later we discovered that there were more people fans of pop culture in the Algarve”, explained Jennifer Guerreiro.
From there, the creation of the Algarve Geeks Center was a step: «the association was born, both from the need for more support to organize these events, and from the need to have a formal group, even for logistical issues», he concluded.
