The Castro Verde City Council will build a space dedicated to Viola Campaniça and the Arts and Crafts to «enhance the dynamics associated with these activities that are realities in the municipality of Castro Verde», announced the municipality.
The project, which is in a preliminary phase, involves the recovery of a property in the urban core of the village, owned by the municipality, integrated in the protection area of the Royal Basilica of Castro Verde, located at Rua D. Afonso I.
The project will include the creation of appropriate facilities for the construction, touch and dissemination of the Viola Campaniça (building workshop, playroom, etc.) and workshops for the promotion of innovative activities related to arts and crafts, stimulating creative capacity and the development of new products, operating in conjunction with the Center for the Promotion of Heritage and Tourism.
With a budget of 750 000 euros, the work will be co-financed by the Portugal 2020 Community Framework, under the Strategic Plan for Urban Development, «insofar as the creation of this Center will be one of the contributions to urban regeneration, a fact that wins. special importance if we take into account its location in the urban space of the town», adds the Chamber of Castro Verde.
