Portimão ChamberThe Portimão City Council today unanimously approved the granting of a donation of 5000 euros to help the victims of the fire that is raging in Funchal, which has already caused three deaths, hundreds of displaced people, dozens of destroyed houses and substantial material damage. .

To what Sul Informação found that the amount of the donation comes from the 30 euros that should be delivered in return by the promoters of the Summer Experiences, in Praia da Rocha, to 10 private social security institutions in the municipality of Portimão.

"Instead of each of these IPSS receiving 3000 euros, it will now receive 2500 euros and the remaining 5000 euros will be made available to Funchal City Council, to hand them over to the fire department or other institutions that it considers most in need", explained a source from the office of the presidency of the Portimão Chamber to our newspaper.

«Strictly speaking, it is not the Municipality's money, but, with the agreement of the Summer Experiences promoters, we believe that the exceptional and tragic circumstances that are being lived in Madeira justify this solidarity», added the same source.

The proposal, presented by Mayor Isilda Gomes, was approved by all councilors, from the PS, Coligação Servir Portimão, CDU and Bloco de Esquerda.
