Salema beachA Spanish tourist who this Tuesday, at nightfall, tried to climb a cliff on Salema beach, having been trapped halfway through, had to be rescued by the Vila do Bispo Firefighters.

The alarm for the unusual case was given at 19:59. "Fortunately, the case was resolved quickly, there were no injuries and the firefighters managed to get the man off the cliff, safe and sound," he told the Sul Informação source of the District Relief Operations Command (CDOS) of the Algarve.

The tourist "remembered that he had to climb the cliff on foot, halfway there he noticed that he couldn't and had to be removed from there," added the same source, ironically.

In the rescue of the Spanish tourist, the wide-angle team of firefighters participated, as well as elements of the Maritime Authority.

Commander Carvalho Pinto, captain of Porto de Lagos and therefore with jurisdiction over Praia da Salema, said only that the man was "rescued" and the operation "successfully completed".
