This year, there is no White Night, but that won't be why Loulé will not say goodbye to the great summer. The Loulé municipality is preparing to launch a new event, to take place on the last weekend of August, which will last for three days and "it will be worth it", believes the deputy mayor Hugo Nunes.
The initiative, which will be launched for the first time in 2016, will alternate with Noite Branca, an event that will not be dropped. In other words, each party will only take place every two years.
«We will keep this bet, in the last weekend of August. In other words, it will not be just one day, but Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We will have a lot of diversity and events that will attract people and will make it worth coming to Loulé to spend these three days», said the Loulé mayor.
Throughout the weekend, said Hugo Nunes, «there will be moments of fun and entertainment, which will also have music», designed for «different audiences, of all age groups, with very diversified tastes». «It won't be the White Night, but there will also be an aspect here Color, at least on one of the days,” he added, laughing.
Hugo Nunes was in conversation with the Sul Informação and with Rádio Universitária do Algarve RUA FM, as a guest of the radio program Impressões, In this interview, he took the opportunity to speak of yet another strong commitment by the executive to which he belongs in tourist entertainment.
The option to make Noite Branca a biennial event is linked to the very specific characteristics of the initiative, different from others held in the municipality and elsewhere in the Algarve.
«The White Night is a remarkable event for those who go there. It doesn't have that register of continuity, like a festival, but it's very intense. This means that, year after year, it is necessary to add very high levels of innovation», he said.
This entails an "enormous effort". «The worst thing that can happen to Noite Branca is that it becomes trivial, that people say something like: “it was good, more or less like last year”. Not! It is necessary to guarantee the factor wow», defended Hugo Nunes.
This is where the Loulé Council's new commitment comes in, since, in the assessment made by the Council, “it is not possible to do this constantly, at least in an event that we want to continue for decades”.
In order not to leave a gap in its summer animation program, in the years when there is no White Night, this new event was created. «These parties are very important for what is the municipality's promotion strategy and for the city. But they are also stimulators of the local economy», said the deputy mayor of Loulé.
In addition to this event, the Loulé City Council has prepared, for the summer, «a series of events in the city and in the municipality that will not disappoint people's expectations», which will have «many and good reasons to have fun in the city of Loulé ».
"There is an event designed for mid-August, with a large dimension, a concert whose protagonist will be announced after the MED Festival, which I have serious expectations that will remain in people's memories," he added.
