«The service has seen an important growth, the result of an increasingly expanded and structured team that stands out for its technical skills, but also for its humanist qualities», explains Grupo Hospital Particular do Algarve.

Cancer is a worrying health problem for the Portuguese population, with its importance fully justified by its growing morbidity and mortality.

In Portugal, annually, 37 thousand new cases of cancer appear. In the Algarve region, this figure is more than two thousand, with breast cancer being the most frequent in women and prostate cancer the highest incidence in men, followed by lung cancer.

So far, more than 1.300 treatments have been carried out at Gambelas Chemotherapy Day Hospital, with emphasis on breast cancer, colorectal tumors and prostate and bladder cancers.

The Day Hospital of Chemotherapy at Hospital Particular de Gambelas has semi-inpatient facilities and facilitated and practically immediate access to cytostatic chemotherapy, in addition to being in protocol with most health subsystems (ADSE, ADM, etc.) and national and international insurance companies.

To celebrate its 5th anniversary, today a convivial snack is offered to all users and family members who have had access to the service over the years.
