The legendary surfer Garrett McNamara will be at Praia do Amado, in Aljezur, on the 7th of August, to give surf lessons to children and young people from a Social Solidarity Institution (10:00 am) and to all others interested (11:00 am) at project scope Buondi Surf Sessions.
After the huge success of the 1st edition of the project Buondi Surf Sessions, the brand once again offers surf lessons, from the north to the south of the country, to those who never dared or had the opportunity to try it, or even to those who want to try it for the second time.
This year, the 2nd edition of Buondi Surf Sessions it goes even further and not only offers surf lessons, from the north to the south of the country, but also has a partnership with SURFaddict (Portuguese Adapted Surfing Association), which will allow people with reduced mobility to try this sport.
“SURFaddict aims to create a movement that allows people with disabilities to enjoy the sea, providing them with greater physical and mental well-being, as well as alleviating the barrier of exclusion. We are very pleased with this partnership and with the support of Buondi, it is great to know that Portuguese brands support this cause and allow us to go further and reach more people” says Nuno Vitorino, president of SURFaddict.
In addition to providing an intense experience, the project Buondi Surf Sessions it also aims to promote surfing, a sport that has been attracting more and more fans.
With this in mind, the project, which has the participation of Garrett McNamara and the support of SURFaddict, is based on offering classes to the general population, but also to institutionalized children and young people and/or with special needs.
Between July 26th and August 7th, the Buondi Surf Sessions they will tour eight beaches in the country – from Matosinhos to Costa Vicentina – offering classes to the population and various institutions.
These classes will feature a very special teacher: Garrett McNamara, face of the Portuguese roasted coffee brand promoting the initiative. The world surfing legend recognizes the enormous satisfaction that this project brings him for the second time: “I always wanted to create a project of this kind, which would allow me to take the surfing experience to those who never had the opportunity, especially children. I was very happy for the opportunity Buondi gave me last year and for being able to repeat it this year. I hope this project will continue for many more years.”
