seafood festival 2 (Medium)The 31st Seafood Festival in Olhão, scheduled for August 9th to 14th, has a smaller budget and a reduction in ticket prices. But the poster will be “one of the best ever”.

«We want to relaunch the Seafood Festival», announced the mayor of Olhão António Pina, at a press conference.

In terms of the poster, this edition of the Seafood Festival features concerts by artists such as Aurea, C4 Pedro, Camané and Xutos e Pontapés, among others.

"In recent years, there was a risk of the festival becoming too elitist, only accessible to the pockets of citizens with higher purchasing power, so we decided to reduce the price of tickets", which will have prices between 5 and 8 euros, stressed António Pina.

The budget available for this year has gone from 600 euros – last year's budget – to 500 euros. This decrease was made, for example, at the expense of the reduction in external hiring. «This year, we wanted to rely more on the house silver, or better: with the gold of the house», said the mayor of Olhão. And he guaranteed: «the reduction of costs will not jeopardize anything at the Festival. The quality of concerts, hygiene and gastronomy will be maintained».

Another novelty is the increase in the number of exhibitors, with the creation of three new spaces for the sale of seafood. Space was also opened to associations, through an invitation launched by the local authority to the association's associative movement, accepted by 4 ao Cubo, by the Ginásio Clube Moncarapachense and by the Culture and Sports Center of the Municipality of Olhão.

The 31st edition of the Seafood Festival, which is once again held at Jardim Pescador Olhanense, will feature the exclusive sale of seafood by an entity whose name has not been revealed. As for drinks, the exclusivity is in charge of the Super Bock group. «Besides these, we have the usual sponsors», highlighted António Pina.

The mayor of Olhão also lamented the fact that the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) did not finance the event, as it considered “helping only during the low season” as a priority.
